love?

"Love's not a feeling
Love's not convenient
But I know love will change your life
Love takes sacrifice
Love cuts like a knife
Sometimes love will make you cry
Love's not easy
But it's worth it
Love is a hunger
But love won't leave you empty
See it's the language of the heart
Love can steal your pride
But love won't let you hide
It takes everything you've got
Love's not easy
But it's worth it
What you gonna do when the bottom falls out
And you're left with nothing but your fear and your doubt to hold to
Who will hold you?
Where you gonna run when it's all on the line
And you're looking for someone to save your life
To save your life
Love can hear you
Love can heal you
If you let it inside
Oh, remember now
Love's not easy
But it's worth it
What you gonna do when the bottom falls out
And you're left with nothing but your fear and doubt to hold to
Who's gonna hold you?
Oh, where you gonna run when it's all on the line
And you're looking for somone to save your life
To save your life
Love can hear you
I know love will heal you
If you let it inside
Oh, remember now
Love's not easy
But it's worth it."

Francesca Battistelli wrote these lyrics in her song titled "Worth It." These words really speak to me in a lot of ways right now. Love is hard. All types of love. Friendship love. Romantic love. Heavenly love. But...apparently love is worth it? Love is worth the tears, the pain, the struggle, the fear, the vulnerability?...
I'm not sure I agree. Maybe I'm just wrong. Maybe I have a skewed view on love. I've been talking with a close friend of my recently and she has decided that there love definitely is not worth all the pain. It's a sad place to be in. I know, because I've questioned the same thing. But love is essential. Love HAS to be worth it..because otherwise, this life isn't really worth it. If Jesus loved me and that caused Him to die for me..then love must mean something. I'm trying not to run away from love. But it's hard. It's scary. And it's not something I'm used too.
So...for now... I'm running away from love because I'm not sure I'm ready to handle all it has to offer, even if it is "worth it."
Did that make sense to you? Probably not. That's okay because this blog isn't for your entertainment anyways. ;)

In His Love,

p.s. I find it ironic that this is how I sign my letters, emails, etc. In His Love? AFter I just wrote a post questioning love? oh irony.
